Collection: Darts Oches
Improving your accuracy could be as simple as throwing your dart from the same distance every time. That's good for you and your development in the sport but there is more value to having an oche than you might think.
The dart oche is an essential element in maintaining the standard dartboard distance for every player. Its primary function is to ensure that all players throw from the same distance, which is critical for fair competition. This distance, as many enthusiasts know, should always be exactly 2.37 meters from the dartboard.
For individuals who have a dartboard at home, it's common to see a simple stripe or mark on the floor to represent this distance. However, without a solid and reliable mark, players might unknowingly stand too far back or too close, disrupting the integrity of the game. This is where a well-defined dart oche becomes indispensable, especially in competitive settings.
Beyond ensuring fair play, the Dart Oche also serves as a protective measure for the floor. During a game, especially with steel darts, "bounce outs" (darts that bounce off the board) can frequently hit the ground. Over time, this can lead to visible damage to the floor, detracting from the aesthetics of the playing area and potentially causing domestic disputes over maintenance.
By using a dart oche, players can mitigate these issues, preserving the floor's condition and keeping the peace at home.
Our oches are made from a variety of wood types and come in a range of colors. If you don't see your ideal oche in the current inventory please contact us, it would be our pleasure to design and craft the oche of your dreams.
